Health Surveillance Group of the Complutense University hasdetected "morbillivirus" in more than 50% of the cetaceans analyzed.The current outbreak has led to a similar viral strain that caused the epidemics of 1990 and 2007.

SUAT research team signed the first twinning agreement between OIE certified laboratories. 

On April 1, 2011 began the agreement between the research group led by Prof. JM Sanchez-Vizcaino (reference laboratory of the OIE for African Swine Fever and African Horse Sickness) and the NationalVeterinary Research Institute for Virology and Microbiology (NRIVVaM) in Russia.

This twinning project will seek to improve the diagnostic capabilities of NRIVVaM in African Swine Fever at a level comparable to the standards of the OIE RL.

Dr José Manuel Sánchez-Vizcaino gave a seminar the last 18th of March in Bellaterra after visiting CReSA. He talked about the current epidemiological situation of the African swine fever virus (ASFV) in Africa, the Caucasus and the Russian Federation.
